Valentine’s biscuits

This biscuits are perfect for any occasion but if you’d like to impress your date then try out this heart-shaped biscuits. The recipe is down the bottom of this page, both in English and Portuguese.

Preparation

  • 250 g unsalted butter
  • 250 g icing sugar
  • 500 g all-purpose flour
  • 2 free range eggs
  • 100 g strawberry preserve
  1. Beat the butter with the icing sugar, add the eggs and mix. Lastly, add to the bowl the flour until combined.
  2. Leave in the fridge to rest for 1 hour. After this period, turn the dough into a lightly-floured bench. Roll the dough 1 cm tick.
  3. Cut circles of dough using a round cookie cutter, these will be the base of the biscuits, and some will be used to prepare the hearts. For the upper part, cut some of the round circles of dough using a heart-shaped cookie cutter and remove the centre.
  4. Bake at 180 ºC for 7 a 10 min until they turn golden brown.
  5. Take the biscuits out of the oven and then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  6. Spread strawberry preserve on the biscuits and join them by placing on top the heart-shaped biscuit.
  7. Sprinkle the biscuits with icing sugar and enjoy.

Preparação

  • 250 g manteiga sem sal
  • 250 g açúcar em pó
  • 500 g farinha sem fermento
  • 2 ovos
  • 100 g doce de morango
  1. Misturar a manteiga com o açúcar em pó, adicionar os ovos e envolver. Depois juntar a farinha e envolver bem.
  2. Deixar repousar no frigorífico durante 1 hora. Estender a massa (1 cm de espessura) numa superfície ligeiramente salpicada com farinha.
  3. Cortar circulos de massa com um cortador de bolachas redondo. Com um cortador em forma de coração, cortar mais massa e remover o interior do coração.
  4. Cozer a 180ºC durante cerca de 7 a 10 min até as bolachas ficarem levemente douradinhas.
  5. Arrefecer as bolachas numa rede de pasteleiro.
  6. Espalhar doce de morango num dos lados da bolacha e colocar por cima a bolacha em forma de coração.
  7. Polvilhar as bolachas com açúcar em pó e bom apetite.
